Installation

BEFORE YOU PURCHASE YOUR HVAC SYSTEM, CALL FOUR WINDS FOR A FREE IN-HOME CONSULTATION

Heating & Air Conditioning installation

Almost 44% of your utility bill goes toward heating and cooling, therefore it's very important to chose the most efficient and effective system for your home. Whether you are replacing your old HVAC system or installing a system in your new home, call Four Winds for a FREE in-home consultation. We proudly serve South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger and Elkhart, Indiana and are licensed to serve Southern Michigan — all of Michiana.

WHAT WE DO

  • Recommend the best heating and air conditioning systems that meets your needs
  • Professional install of HVAC units by our well-trained career-bound service technicians
  • Thorough explanation of your new system and its features
  • Recommend ongoing maintenance to keep your equipment running efficiently
YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER MAKING A CHANGE IF:
  • Some of your rooms are too hot or cold. Duct problems, inadequate air sealing or insulation could be the cause. If your home is not properly sealed or insulated against air leakage, your system will have to work extra hard.
  • Your home has humidity problems and/or excessive dust. Poorly operating or improperly sized equipment could be to blame. Monthly maintenance of your equipment’s filters may help.
  • Your equipment needs frequent repairs and your energy bills are going up. The age and condition of your heating and cooling equipment may have caused it to become less efficient.
  • Your air conditioner or heat pump is more than 12 years old. Consider replacing it with newer, more efficient and eco-friendly equipment.
  • Your furnace or boiler is more than 15 years old.
  • You leave your thermostat set at one constant temperature. A programmable thermostat allows you to adjust the temperature while you are away and sleeping.
  • Your score on the ENERGY STAR Home Energy Yardstick is below five. That means you’re using more energy at home than most people and are probably paying more than you need to on energy bills.

ENERGY SAVING TIPS
  • Install a programmable thermostat, so you can preset temperatures for different times of the day.
  • Insulate the water tank and first six feet of hot and cold water pipes connected to the unit.
  • Lower the temperature of your water heater to 120°F. For every 10-degree decrease in temperature, you could save 3%-5% on your utility bill.
  • Install rubber gaskets behind outlets and use switch plates on exterior walls.
  • Install low-flow showerheads.

Preventive Maintenance

Preventive Maintenance

A YEARLY MAINTENANCE PROGRAM WILL KEEP YOUR SYSTEM RUNNING SMOOTHLY

Preventive Maintenance

Nobody likes to wake up with a cold nose. That's why being proactive is usually better than being reactive. Four Winds offers an affordable yearly maintenance plan, with checkups in the spring and fall, for your furnace and air conditioner. Yearly maintenance protects against breakdowns, keeps your system operating smoothly, helps minimize energy usage, and prolongs the life of your equipment. We also offer one-time check-ups for your furnace OR air conditioner. Trust Four Winds to keep your equipment running smoothly.

MAINTAIN YOUR HVAC SYSTEM
  • Did you know that one year of run time on your system is equivalent to 50,000 miles on your car? Would you neglect maintenance on your car for 50,000 miles.
  • Without annual maintenance, a dirty HVAC system can consume more electricity and gas and can lead to possible damage to the major components.
  • For this reason, the manufacturer requires annual maintenance to keep the factory warranty in effect.
  • Ask us how we can hep you maintain your system to keep you comfortable!

TIPS TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY
  • Change batteries in smoke alarms, radon and carbon monoxide detectors yearly.
  • Consider a ventilation system to increase air circulation inside and add fresh air.
  • Reduce the potential for buildup of allergy-causing pollutants by keeping your house clean.
  • Take special precautions when operating fuel-burning appliances to avoid leakage.

Geothermal

ECO-FRIENDLY SYSTEM THAT SAVES YOU MONEY

Geothermal

ECO-FRIENDLY SYSTEM THAT SAVES YOU MONEY

Geothermal heating or geothermal heat pumps (GHPs) utilize new technology that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and can save you up to 70% on heating, cooling and hot water bills. These ground-source heat pumps use the natural heat storage capacity of the earth or ground water to provide energy efficient heating and cooling. They rely on the nearly constant temperature of the earth for heat transfer instead of the widely fluctuating temperatures of the outside air which is the key to the geothermal unit’s surprising efficiency.

Geothermal heat pumps are durable and require little maintenance. They have fewer mechanical components than other systems, and most of those components are underground, sheltered from the weather. The underground piping used in the system is often guaranteed to last 25 to 50 years and is virtually worry-free. The components inside the house are small and easily accessible for maintenance. Warm and cool air is distributed through ductwork, just as in a regular forced-air system.

Want to know if a geothermal system is right for your home? Call our experts at Four Winds Custom Heating and Air Conditioning for day-to-day comfort and year-to-year confidence!

FREE WATER
Most geothermal systems can be designed to produce free hot water during the summer, by using waste heat extracted from the interior air during the air conditioning season.
